TYPE 2: (Journal 1) The Writer's Toolbox

"Learning never exhausts the mind" Leonardo Da Vinci

Mind Map:
"A mind map gives visual form to ideas. It is particularly helpful for initiating ideas in a project...mind maps needn't to be questioned until they are completed."
GOAL: To develop the diagram fast and then synthesize possible connections and directions.

Concept Map:
This is similar to a mind map. "The difference between them is that concept mapping allows for a more through investigation and analysis of conceptual relationships and meanings."

"Concept maps show relationships of concepts (objects, people, environments, events, etc.) in a hierarchical order, from general to specific. Each of these words is joined by a proposition or linking statement, such as "depends on," "can be," "made of," "from."
GOAL: Focus more on system thinking.

Free writing:
It "helps bring hidden ideas into the visible world, which is what art and design are all about."
GOAL: Allow thoughts to freely flow.
Focus on more specific questions and ideas.

There is a lot to talk about when it comes to the Genocide in Darfur but what I think is the most important is the question: How did the Genocide start and who is responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people?
"The insurgeny began virtually unnoticed in February 2003; it has, over the past two years, precipitated the first great episode of genocidal destruction in the 21st century. The victims are the non-Arab or African tribal groups of Darfur, primarily the Fur, the Massaleit, and the Zaghawa, but also the Tunjur, the Birgid, the Dajo, and others." It started because "The Islamic controlled government, located in East Sudan, started the Genocide as an ethnic cleansing of the Darfur region in West Sudan. They "hire" militia groups known as the Janjaweed to attack villages, rape, kill and loot." The government is NOT paying the militias, this is something that the militias believe in doing. After reading this I honestly think that they have sick minds and deserve to go to hell. What is the worst part is that the government has not once stepped up and put an end to this. They have some nerve for letting thousands of innocent people be tortured and murdered! The whole government system is more messed up than any system should be or ever will be in any other part of the world. "They assist the Janjaweed in the attacks occasionally with air support. Though they deny it, we know that it is the government assisting them, for they are the only ones who have the knowledge and experience to fly these helicopters as the air support." Really? Is this the way to run a country? My God, what a messed up government. It is true that the attacks are government sponsored, but as of right now they are doing a pretty good job of covering up everything they are doing and threatening anyone who tries to get in their way.
Basically, there is no reason for why this should have ever started and there is no reason for ANYONE to ever need to kill massive amounts of people for NO REASON AT ALL! This is one of the most heated problems that needs to be fixed right now before the ENTIRE country of Africa becomes extinct... except for the government, who could potentially raid other countries and continue on their killing sprees. It needs to stop. Now.
